Two fantastic fishing derbies are held each year on Lake Winnipesaukee and both offering thousands of dollars worth of prizes. With a small team of full-time employees and a base of dedicated volunteers, the Daniel Webster Council has committed itself to keeping the tradition of the Winni Derby. By organizing volunteers and securing tournament sponsors, the Daniel Webster Council has created a model that will make the tournament exciting for anglers, beneficial to New Hampshire Fish & Game’s conservation efforts, and supportive of Scouting’s mission. A portion of proceeds from the Winni Derby will go to New Hampshire Fish & Game for fishery management while the balance will go to support youth Scouting programs in New Hampshire.
“Service to others, respect for the outdoors, and a pledge to be “conservation-minded” are key parts of the Scouting program, so it was a natural fit for Daniel Webster Council to step up to help bring back the Winni Derby.”
